Welcome to Richard’s Blog! It’s been a windy start to 2020 so far and doesn’t show signs of stopping. The snow cover in the hills is fantastic now after a slow start and I’ve been out a fair bit already. Watch out for the deep snow drifts though!
January had some frustrating scenarios of no snow for winter skills and too much wind for higher summits. A mixture of cancellations, posponements and improvisation have kepy me active. The snow arrived towards the middle of the month and things picked up. I had a fantastic couple of days guiding up Gleouraich, Spidean Mialach and Sgurr a’Mhaoraich above Loch Quoich. February has been much better with snow, but stormy. It’s still windy out there though take a look at the Cairngorm Weather Station. Make sure you keep your ski goggles handy!
I’ve also been busy over the last month moving my website to new servers and re-writing everything. There is still a lot that needs doing too. My old blog was a little bit out of date and operated as a logbook of my trips. This has all changed. I’ll still post some trip reports and photographs, but there will be some more featured articles appearing so watch this space!
If there were old posts or photographs that you had bookmarked then please contact me and I’ll see what I can do. I have them all archived and am happy to send copies if needed.
Anyway that’s enough of an update for now and the website is up and running again. Watch this space for new articles…
